Rich History

Richford, located on the Canadian border in Northwest Vermont, was chartered in 1780. The town turned into a lively rural trading center by the mid-1800's with general stores, a gristmill, sawmill and two busy hotels. Today, Grey Gables, St. Anne's Episcopal Church, the Bright Block, the 1908 Fire Station and the international Bridge at East Richford are but a few examples of the town's historic heritage.

Recreation

Spring/Summer: Canoeing and fishing on the Missisquoi River, hiking on the Long Trail, biking, and golf at one of the most scenic courses in New England, the Richford Golf Course.

Fall/Winter: Snowmobiling, ice skating, cross country skiing, and downhill skiing in the nearby town of Jay. Richford is part of the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail, which connects St. Albans and Richford on a 26-mile trail. The rolling terrain that makes up the trail passes through some of the most breathtakingly beautiful Vermont landscapes.

Foundation of Our Community

Residents of Richford span all ages and ways of life. The one thing that unites all of these residents is a love for the town and a wish for its prosperity. We love to show visitors what makes our town so exceptional!

Activities

In springtime, local residents strut their stuff in Hometown Follies, a hometown tradition and talent showcase. The highlight of summer is the Farmer's Market in Davis Park, where fresh local vegetables are for sale along with homemade treats, delicacies, and handcrafted items. On July 4th we celebrate Old Home Day with a parade, food sale, and auction, capped off by a spectacular fireworks display. Folks driving through the area to enjoy our beautiful foliage season will find Richford celebrating Hometown Harvest with a dance, auction, car rally, and loads of activities and special performances for the children in Davis Park.
